 | TREMONT, PA INSANE FIRE SIREN This video of Tremont's siren is only 4 and a half cycles long. The siren keeps wailing for 10 and a half more cycles. 15 cycles not just once but two times. "I'd rather hear it than have my house burn down"? It'll be up in smoke by the time the siren stops and the firemen figure out what that loud noise was. Tremontians have a reputation for being a little slow to react to things. Maybe that's why they had to set it for two 15 cycle vollies. It usually goes off because of a truck wreck on the hill on Interstate 81 at the 107 mile marker - which is almost every time it rains. The fire company is called to keep fires out, spray the debris off the road and direct traffic. The volunteer fireman do have to be commended for their commitment. After the two insanely long rounds of the siren and after they eventually close Interstate 81 to pull a truck out of the ditch, the detoured tractor trailers from I81 blast their engine brakes down through Tremont all night. Nice little insane town. |
