Pat Lloyd (Western/Red) 2-0, 3-2. 1988 NYS Champ (Sachem) d. 2003 NYS Champ (Valley Central) Banfi produced one of the greatest upsets in the history of NYS wrestling when in 1988, as a senior, he narrowly beat Pine Bush sophomore and 2x returning NYS Champ Troy Bouzakis in the NYS Qtrfinals in overtime criteria / referee's decision. At the time Bouzaukis was thought to be unbeatable. Bouzakis came into the match 99-0 and would end his career 175-2 with his only other loss coming in the NYS Finals the next year 4-4, 1-0 OT. He would win his 3rd NYS Championship as a senior. Bouzakis was a 3x NYS Champ, 2x MOW, 2nd, and 3rd. Banfi finishes the ESG with silver and Lloyd with bronze. |
![]() | CORFU the island of NAFSIKA The running time of the film is 20 minutes but unfortunately I had to shorten it to 10 minutes in order to meet the rules of this site. Nevertheless you can watch this movie in full length (all the 20 minutes of it) at my blog http://marios-videos.blogspot.com/#Q10 http://marios-movies.blogspot.com/#D10 http://marios-biography.blogspot.com/ This Super 8, 18 fps film, was made in 1969 and it was the 1st award winner at the 1970 Greek Amateur Cine Club Festival. It was shot during our vacations in Corfu with a small S8 hand held camera and actually was the basis for the creation of the 16mm movie of CORFU, 3 years later, in 1972. The interesting point of this movie is the sequence of the rally at the old town of Corfu, which does not take place any more for many years now. The film's text and narration, in a slightly poetic style, is in Greek by M.L. This is a short tribute to the amateur Filmmakers of the last 40 years, by MARIOS LEFTERIOTIS http://marios-videos.blogspot.com/, http://3dmarios.blogspot.com/ You may watch short films and videos, amongst them REQUIEM. You will see S8 and 16mm films, videos and digitally made movies, and perhaps you will recall your creative days of film-making and these years of the sixties and seventies, when thousands of aspiring new amateur filmmakers, worldwide, with a small 8mm camera in hands, were shooting their "masterpieces", in a 3 minutes 8mm reel, which they had to wait for 2 weeks to see it processed and ready for projection. And yet, from some of those short movies, the so called modern artistic cinema, got many fresh ideas about shooting and editing films ! The movies you are going to watch, present the CINE's activities of M.L. who is Construction Engineer, Photographer and Filmmaker. He started as an amateur moviemaker and in a few years his films were shown on TV and at many festivals, internationally. The most interesting of his movies is REQUIEM (1970) for its avant-garde style, which maintains its originality even today, nearly 40 years after it was made ! The list of films and videos is (chronologically) : CORFU the island of NAFSIKA (1969) DIASPASI -- SEPARATION (1969) REQUIEM for Humanity (1970) CORFU (1972) DEMOLITION (1986) A RIGHT TO LIVE (1986) SANTORINI (1988) 35 YEARS (2002) GRIGORIS KAPSALIS ECHOES OF ZAGORI (2003) EARTH -- ZERO HOUR (2005) Enjoy them ! ...m.l. Marios Lefteriotis has edited a book titled "THE THIRD DIMENSION IN THE ATHENS OLYMPIC GAMES", which contains 230 3-D anaglyph photos of Athens Olympics and currently is looking for a publisher. http://3dmarios.blogspot.com/ http://marios-videos.blogspot.com/ http://photo.net/photos/marleft http://tinyurl.com/2ehrch http://tinyurl.com/234upp |

![]() | Wally Szczerbiak - Wally's World Walter Robert "Wally" Szczerbiak (pronounced Surh-Bee-Ak) (born March 5, 1977) is an American professional basketball player for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Szczerbiak was born in Madrid, Spain, while his father Walter (a former ABA player) was playing for Real Madrid, and spent much of his childhood in Europe during his father's playing career. When Walter retired, he moved his family back to his native Long Island, New York, where Wally attended high school in Cold Spring Harbor. Wally set a cold spring harbor record in 1993. Szczerbiak competed for the Long Island team in the 1997 Empire State Games. The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Szczerbiak 6th overall in the 1999 NBA Draft. His best year as a pro was 2002 when he was a coaches' selection to the Western Conference All-Star team. Later he tied a Timberwolves franchise record of 44 points on April 13, 2003, since broken by Kevin Garnett. Szczerbiak was coming off the bench for the 2004-2005 NBA season. He was uncomfortable with the role and wanted to be a starter. In the 2005-2006 season, the former All-Star returned to the starting role. Szczerbiak is an offensive-minded player with an excellent perimeter touch. In the 2006-07 season, Szczerbiak played well early on, including a 35-point performance against the Charlotte Bobcats early in the season. On February 21, 2008, Szczerbiak was traded from the SuperSonics to the Cavaliers along with Sonics teammate Delonte West and Ben Wallace and Joe Smith from Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal one minute before the deadline expired. |
