KU (KANA)

(Redirected from ク)

'ã', in hiragana, or 'ク' in katakana, and 'ku' in Romaji with Hepburn romanisation (IPA: ), is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. The shape of these kana come from the kanji 'ä¹…'.
This character, like the rest of the second row, may have a dakuten added. This transforms the symbol into ã in hiragana, ã‚° in katakana, and ''gu'' in Romaji. The dakuten's addition also changes the sound of the syllable represented, to .
Also note that, as in the other -u kana, the 'u' sound is very subtle; unless well-articulated, this kana sounds fairly close to 'k' (or, with dakuten, 'g') alone.
