KU (KANA)

(Redirected from )

'く', in hiragana, or 'ク' in katakana, and 'ku' in Romaji with Hepburn romanisation (IPA: ), is one of the Japanese kana, which each represent one mora. The shape of these kana come from the kanji '久'.
This character, like the rest of the second row, may have a dakuten added. This transforms the symbol into ぐ in hiragana, グ in katakana, and ''gu'' in Romaji. The dakuten's addition also changes the sound of the syllable represented, to .
Also note that, as in the other -u kana, the 'u' sound is very subtle; unless well-articulated, this kana sounds fairly close to 'k' (or, with dakuten, 'g') alone.
