'Świebodzice' () is a town in south-western
Poland with 23,233 inhabitants (as of 2004).
Situated in the
Lower Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in
Wałbrzych Voivodeship (1975–1998).
The city is situated next to "
Książ Castle" which during the
World War II, together with the underground cave complex, was expanded to create
Adolf Hitler's private quarters there.
Old fortifications from around 1279, the year the city was founded, still remain.
