ŌNOJō, FUKUOKA

is a city located in Fukuoka, Japan. It is in effect a southern suburb of Fukuoka City, and has a border to the northwest with the Hakata-ku area of the city. It also shares borders with Dazaifu city, Kasuga city, Umi machi, Chikushino city, Nakagawa machi and Shime machi.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 93,053 and a population density of 3,461.79 persons per km². The total area is 26.88 km².
The city was founded on April 1, 1972.The city flower is the kikyou or Chinese Bellflower.(Campanula) There is a JR station named Ōnojō, 5 stops south of the main Hakata station on the Kagoshima Main Line. The Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line also serves the area.
